2:36 pm and it's a bit o' all right

Dad ate lunch, is upbeat and doing well. My sister talked to him. I'm gonna go call him now. She said they put in the biggest stent they make. Heh. I think he's lucky.

Back in '81 before the media was splashed with what all the symptoms of a heart attack are, he felt funny and left work and drove himself to the hospital. His left arm went numb on his way there - a classic symptom of heart attack. He's been on meds ever since. He has a good sense of how his body feels. At first the doctor sent him home with Previcid Tuesday and my dad said it didn't help and the doc told him to go to emergency the next day. I'm not overly thrilled with the doctor, but I'm thrilled with how my dad is in tune with his body. That's how you have to be. Doctors don't know everything. We each have to have a sense of our health ourselves.

I'm glad your dad is doing all right. Has he looked into Dr. Dean Ornish or Dr. John McDougall's programs for *reversing* heart disease?

Never heard of them. I'll google it!

Very sorry to hear about the situation. I hope everybody is in good spirits and everything turns out well. You know where to catch me if need be - just outside Seattle :)

I'm so glad your dad is doing well! That's great news. :)

It is great that your dad has a sense about his body and his symptoms. When my dad had his heart attack, he just wanted to stay in bed.....he didn't want to go to the hospital and fought with my mom about it. She knew he needed to go. Glad she wouldn't let up! Sometimes you just have to go with your gut instinct.

Good thing your dad didn't just "pooh, pooh" his symptoms. Hope he has a quick recovery and uses this episode to be reminded of the brevity of life and the certainty of death. We all tend to take tomorrow for granted and many are not prepared for facing eternity!

Yr, I'm getting to know quite a few people in Washington State! I haven't heard any news today but I expect my dad to continue on an upswing. Yay!

Christina, your dad is sure fortunate he has your mom. Yesirreee. Medical technology is incredible. They only put my dad under mild sedation. He was awake and said it hardly hurt at all. They said heart surgery would be the next step so we're all relieved the stent is working.

Busy, my dad is agnostic. I think it multiplies his fear of death. It's not hard to engage him in discussion and he's not a militant agnostic... I need a road sign from God (to borrow Kara's phrase) for him. I need it to say "This is the Way" and I need some bright, flashing lights, and sirens.

"Go to emergency the next day"...that doesn't sound like good advice to me...if it is an emergency, then go now! I agree with your opinion of the dr.! It's good your dad went and that he has a sense of his own health.

Yeah, a sign saying, "Take a left at the next light" would be nice once in a while! I guess that's why it's called "faith"...knowing that He is in control and will always lead the way...even if I can only see as far as the headlights shine! LOL!
