I did some alterations to my renaissance dress and it fits even better.  I took in the vest 1/2 inch on each side.  Moved some buttons on the skirt to make it show more of the underskirt.  I made some elastic bands to go around the sleeves to hold them on my arms better.  The sleeves are super long and the elastic that's in the sleeves must be for a football player with giant forearms.

My Madonna shoes from 1985 will go perfectly with the dress.  They look old timey.  We need to get the heels repaired though because they've disintegrated.  I have a leather necklace to wear with it.  Need earrings kinda.  Have to figure out what to do with my hair.  I'm liable to be hot if the weather's hot.  It's a lot of fabric to wear on a hot day. But.  It'll be worth it.

I got the sewing bug and tacked down the back pockets on a pair of cargo pants that every time I washed the pockets stuck out.  That took like ten minutes.  Ten whole minutes.  I felt very accomplished.

Think I need to trim an inch off my ends.

Glenn Beck is going off the air.  I won't miss him much.  He's depressing and overacts for the camera.

I like doing little sewing projects so I get that sense of accomplishment sooner and that encourages me to sew more! :D
For your hair; I would do some research into styles and try to copy something from the time period. My experience with RenFairs is they usually have a braiding booth and will all your length they should be able to doing something complicated and beautiful!

Got your comment while I was searching for hairdos! I'm burned out now and still don't know what to do with the hair. I don't know if we'll have braiders because the town is so small? Wearing it down sure makes a job of combing it after and it'll probably be windy. Would make my hair a nightmare to comb afterward. Hmmm. A single braid is what I wear every day so that's not even special.

Is your town big enough to possibly have a salon with someone who is proficient in braiding? This site has several examples: http://www.coveryourhair.com/blog/renaissance-faire/ I would suggest if you know it's gonna be windy to maybe even consider putting your hair in a snood.

There is a salon and I think I'm going to ask her if she braids! Or, I could do a simple braid and put a ribbon in it to match the dress! The snood on that web page is gorgeous. That's a possibility! Thanks Shelby!

Hey! Don't forget to post a picture of you all dressed up. We wanna see! :) I'd love to see how you do your hair too!

I can't wait to get my sewing machine out. No room though with chickens everywhere - lol...

Well, chickens and seedlings, eh!

I'll be sure to get pictures. I want to wear my dress NOW!
