This is what a day off of homeschooling looks like at our house. Diagram drawn by our seven year old son yesterday shows materials needed to construct additional drainage in front yard. My husband then wrote down all the figures and our son came up with a sum. See, you do use mathematics in real life. (And this is from a boy who hates to write so Mamma is glad to see him writing for any reason!)
